Kristen L. Thurmond is a founding partner of the Law Offices of Creagar and Thurmond. The areas of law that Kristen and her law partner focus on impact almost everyone, such as family matters, traffic tickets, and animal related matters. Originally from Nixa, Missouri, she came to the Kansas City metro area to attend William Jewell College and fell in love with the city. She decided to go to UMKC School of Law and make Kansas City her home.
Kristen started her career as a family law attorney while in law school. She was a certified student attorney in the UMKC Child and Family Services Clinic that offices pro bono services to local families. She also participated at the national Child Welfare Appellate Moot Court competition and traveled to Ohio to compete. Prior to opening her own firm, Kristen clerked for a small family law practice. Shortly after being admitted to the bar, she became a certified Guardian ad Litem and represents children in juvenile and circuit courts in Jackson County by appointment.
Currently, Kristen volunteers at Spay & Neuter Kansas City and has a passion for helping families keep their pets safe, healthy, and out of legal trouble. This drives her passion to help pet owners with any legal issues that come their way. During law school, she interned with the Kansas City Prosecutor’s Office in the Municipal Division. While there, Kristen was assigned to the animal dockets at municipal court.
Kristen represents clients in cities all across the Kansas City metro area in Missouri, such as Kansas City, Independence, Grandview, Raytown, Lee's Summit, Belton, Liberty, Kearney, Gladstone, Riverside, Parkville, Platte City, and many others. She especially enjoys working in Jackson County, Missouri and gladly travels to Platte, Cass, and Clay counties, as well.
